And it will complain. And it won't just be the D that's affected. You'll find tuning anomalies across the range and a general sense of the sound being pinched and a bit nasal. The Super 20 is a gregarious horn, it needs a lot of space to move around in. If it had a catchphrase it'd be "Don't cramp my style, man".

King Super 20 Tenor Saxophone, 99+ Original Lacquer, Cleveland Era, V DC Sax
I have been spending the last couple of years getting to know King saxophones better. Kings have a bit of a learning curve because there are so many different versions of the Super 20 and Zephyr and each version has its particular features. This is one of the best versions of the Super 20, and comes from 1957. It is the only horn that competes price wise with the Selmer Mark VI, and with good.

Description. This King Super 20 Alto from 1953 is in very good condition and is a stand-out player. If you read around in the 'museum' section of GetASax, you will see that I think that the King Super 20 altos from the 1950's are just about the best alto saxophones ever made. And this one stands out as a particularly lively and resonant.

The King Super 20 Alto Saxophone with 'full pearls' (meaning pearls on side keys, palm keys, octave key, and G# in addition to the usual pearl key touches), is in my opinion the best all around vintage alto saxophone for jazz and lots of other styles. (For tone, I also love early Conn 6M's!)

It has pearl side keys and G# like Cannonball Adderley's Super 20, and Charlie Parker's Super 20. It has that tone too - warm, projecting, jazzy. It's pretty hard to beat. This horn is in excellent condition. Cosmetically, it has.

My Series 2 Super 20..I think it has to be the best tenor saxophone I have ever played /owned..I never fail to be impressed by it's sheer mojo..and I find I have to work so much less on my sound than on my V1 which I've played for years. The King is just all tone. I have owned 2 Kings before. The 1A had a great sound but it was a little dark.

The King Super 20 and Super 20 Silver-Sonic are known as two of the most legendary jazz horns ever produced. and they are JAZZ horns: a big bell, big bore and a wide-open, cutting sound. A lot of people like the Selmer Mark VI better, and it may be better -- for an all-around horn -- but the King Super 20 is the horn to beat in the jazz arena.
1959 King Super 20 Alto Saxophone, 96 Original Lacquer, Fresh Overhau DC Sax
This is the King Super 20 Alto Saxophone. The King Super 20 is a legend of a horn. Cannonball Adderley played one much like this one, with an under-slung Sterling silver neck. They are known for their wide open, soulful sound and this particular horn is a great player. The pads are high.
